The Caribbean Shipping Association will hold its 56th Annual General Meeting, Conference and Exhibition in Georgetown, Guyana, from October 25 to 28, 2026. Regional maritime connectivity, port modernisation and supply chain resilience will be among the main priorities.

The Caribbean Shipping Association (CSA) will bring together maritime executives, port authorities, shipping lines, logistics providers and government representatives at its 56th Annual General Meeting, Conference and Exhibition, scheduled for October 25–28, 2026, at the Guyana Marriott Hotel Georgetown.

Hosted locally by the Shipping Association of Guyana (SAG), the event will focus on the theme of building a more connected, resilient and competitive Caribbean. Its programme combines executive discussions, technical sessions, a ministerial meeting and a maritime exhibition.

Regional Connectivity and Port Modernisation

Improving maritime connectivity within the Caribbean will be one of the central priorities of CSA 2026, alongside the modernisation of port infrastructure and the development of more resilient supply chains.

The conference will examine opportunities to strengthen regional trade and address operational challenges affecting shipping networks, ports and logistics services. Digital transformation will also feature prominently, with discussions covering artificial intelligence, emerging technologies and their potential applications across maritime and port operations.

These subjects form part of a broader programme addressing the competitiveness of Caribbean maritime services, including workforce development and the skills required to support technological and operational change.

The conference will provide a forum for shipping companies, terminal operators and logistics professionals to exchange experiences and examine approaches to improving efficiency and regional cooperation.

Guyana Hosts the Caribbean Maritime Industry

The selection of Georgetown as host city places Guyana’s developing logistics and energy sectors within the wider Caribbean maritime discussion.

The Shipping Association of Guyana is coordinating the local organisation of the event, which will bring together regional stakeholders and international industry representatives. Guyana’s emergence as a regional logistics and energy hub is among the topics identified by the CSA for this year’s conference.

Discussions are expected to explore opportunities associated with the country’s expanding maritime activities, alongside the infrastructure, services and commercial partnerships required to support regional trade.

The programme will also include a maritime exhibition where companies can present technologies, equipment and services related to shipping, ports and logistics. For participating operators, the event will provide opportunities to examine regional developments and establish commercial contacts across different segments of the maritime industry.

Ministerial Dialogue and Maritime Decarbonisation

CSA 2026 will also include a Caribbean Ministerial Meeting, providing a setting for dialogue between policymakers and maritime industry representatives. The ministerial discussions will complement the conference’s operational and commercial sessions, bringing public-sector perspectives into the wider conversation on regional maritime development.

The event will be followed by a related regional workshop on maritime decarbonisation, scheduled for October 28–29 in Georgetown.

Convened by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the CSA in coordination with MTCC Caribbean, the workshop will focus on implementing the IMO’s 2023 Strategy on Reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Ships.

Its objective is to develop a Caribbean-owned action roadmap addressing maritime decarbonisation and a just transition. Participants will work on regional priorities, implementation responsibilities, indicative timelines and potential technical assistance and financing requirements.

The workshop forms a separate programme from the CSA conference, while extending discussions on the environmental and operational priorities facing the region’s maritime sector.

With connectivity, port operations, technological change and policy coordination on the agenda, CSA 2026 will provide an opportunity for regional stakeholders to examine shared maritime challenges and potential areas for cooperation.
