Argentina’s aviation market carried 33.3 million passengers in 2025, up 13.7% from the previous year, according to ALTA’s Argentina Aviation Insight 2025, published in July 2026. International traffic grew 18.9%, more than twice the domestic growth rate, and accounted for much of the market’s expansion during the year.
International traffic leads Argentina’s 2025 growth
Argentina’s aviation market ended 2025 with an almost even split between domestic and international passengers. Domestic traffic remained slightly larger, with 17.4 million passengers and a 52% share of the market, while international traffic reached 15.9 million passengers, representing 48% of the total.
The difference was in the pace of growth. Domestic passenger traffic increased 9.3% year over year, while international traffic rose 18.9%. The number of international flights operated increased 19.1%, compared with 6.8% growth in domestic operations. Load factors remained above 80% in both segments, at 84% domestically and 82% internationally.
ALTA identifies international traffic as the main driver of Argentina’s aviation growth in 2025, reversing a longer-term pattern in which domestic demand had contributed most to the market’s expansion.
Brazil strengthens its position as Argentina’s top international market
Brazil remained Argentina’s largest international aviation market in 2025, with more than 5.1 million origin-and-destination passengers. Chile ranked second with 2.2 million passengers, followed by the United States with 1.53 million and Spain with 1.37 million.
The Argentina-Brazil market also accounted for much of the strongest route-level growth. Eight of the ten largest net increases in international passenger volumes involved routes between the two countries.
Buenos Aires Aeroparque–Rio de Janeiro recorded the largest net increase, adding 436,007 passengers compared with 2024. Aeroparque–São Paulo added 268,695 passengers, while Aeroparque–Florianópolis gained 160,205. Other notable increases included Buenos Aires Ezeiza–Punta Cana, Panama City, Miami and Madrid.
Latin America and the Caribbean remained central to Argentina’s international network, accounting for 67% of international traffic in 2025. Europe represented 17% and North America 13%.
Argentina ranks third in the regional aviation market
Argentina generated 98.3 billion origin-and-destination revenue passenger kilometres in 2025, representing about 8% of the Latin American and Caribbean total. That placed the country third in the region behind Mexico and Brazil, and ahead of Colombia.
ALTA notes that Argentina’s position by O&D RPKs is partly explained by the longer average distance travelled by passengers. The average O&D trip in Argentina reached approximately 3,300 kilometres in 2025, compared with 1,785 kilometres in Colombia. As a result, Argentina ranked ahead of Colombia in RPKs despite carrying fewer passengers.
Since 2022, Argentina has returned to sustained O&D RPK growth, with 2025 levels standing nearly 50% above those recorded in 2014.
International connectivity expands over a decade
Argentina’s international route network has also broadened significantly over the past decade. The number of international airport pairs served by scheduled flights increased from 77 in 2014 to 113 in 2025, a 47% expansion and the addition of 36 international connections.
Domestic traffic, meanwhile, grew from 8.2 million passengers in 2014 to 17.4 million in 2025, equivalent to a compound annual growth rate of 6.1%. International traffic reached 15.9 million passengers in 2025 after recovering more rapidly from 2022, supported by restored capacity and new routes.
The 2025 figures therefore point to a market in which domestic aviation remains slightly larger in absolute terms, but international connectivity has become the strongest source of current growth.
