Les chiffres publi\u00e9s par la Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago mettent \u00e9galement en lumi\u00e8re l\u2019ampleur des activit\u00e9s de transbordement qui soutiennent le positionnement maritime de Trinidad-et-Tobago. <\/p>\n\n<p>Cette progression s\u2019inscrit dans une dynamique de reprise plus large observ\u00e9e depuis 2023. Apr\u00e8s avoir trait\u00e9 317 322 EVP en 2023 puis 324 575 EVP en 2024, Port of Spain a encore acc\u00e9l\u00e9r\u00e9 en 2025, alors que les flux maritimes r\u00e9gionaux se stabilisaient et que les armateurs renfor\u00e7aient leurs rotations dans la Cara\u00efbe. Le port \u00e9tait auparavant tomb\u00e9 \u00e0 236 370 EVP durant l\u2019ann\u00e9e 2020 marqu\u00e9e par la pand\u00e9mie.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Au-del\u00e0 des volumes globaux, la structure m\u00eame du trafic r\u00e9v\u00e8le davantage le r\u00f4le r\u00e9gional du port. En 2025, les volumes de transbordement ont repr\u00e9sent\u00e9 une part significative de l\u2019activit\u00e9, avec 95 049 EVP de conteneurs vides en transbordement et 86 806 EVP de conteneurs pleins en transbordement. <\/p>\n\n<p>Ces chiffres montrent que Port of Spain fonctionne d\u00e9sormais comme bien plus qu\u2019un simple port gateway au service de l\u2019\u00e9conomie import-export de Trinidad. Le port joue de plus en plus un r\u00f4le de plateforme de redistribution et de repositionnement des flux conteneuris\u00e9s circulant \u00e0 travers le sud de la Cara\u00efbe et les corridors commerciaux proches de l\u2019Am\u00e9rique du Sud. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Le transbordement reste au c\u0153ur du r\u00f4le du port<\/h2>\n\n<p>L\u2019ampleur des mouvements de conteneurs vides appara\u00eet particuli\u00e8rement r\u00e9v\u00e9latrice. Le repositionnement des conteneurs vides \u00e0 lui seul a d\u00e9pass\u00e9 les 95 000 EVP en 2025, soit davantage que les volumes d\u2019importation enregistr\u00e9s sur l\u2019ann\u00e9e. <\/p>\n\n<p>Cette situation refl\u00e8te des r\u00e9alit\u00e9s structurelles propres au transport maritime carib\u00e9en. De nombreux march\u00e9s insulaires g\u00e9n\u00e8rent des flux commerciaux asym\u00e9triques, obligeant les compagnies maritimes \u00e0 repositionner les \u00e9quipements vides entre plusieurs ports afin de maintenir l\u2019\u00e9quilibre des r\u00e9seaux et la disponibilit\u00e9 des conteneurs. Les ports capables de g\u00e9rer efficacement ces op\u00e9rations de repositionnement acqui\u00e8rent ainsi une valeur strat\u00e9gique dans les r\u00e9seaux r\u00e9gionaux de ligne r\u00e9guli\u00e8re.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Port of Spain semble pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment consolider ce r\u00f4le.<br\/><\/p>\n\n<p>Les chiffres cumul\u00e9s du d\u00e9but de l\u2019ann\u00e9e 2026 vont dans la m\u00eame direction. Au cours des quatre premiers mois de l\u2019ann\u00e9e, le port a trait\u00e9 101 978 EVP, dont 32 106 EVP de conteneurs vides en transbordement et 16 097 EVP de conteneurs pleins en transbordement. <\/p>\n\n<p>M\u00eame \u00e0 ce stade pr\u00e9coce de l\u2019ann\u00e9e, les activit\u00e9s li\u00e9es au transbordement demeurent l\u2019un des principaux moteurs du trafic portuaire.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">CMA CGM et MSC continuent de structurer le profil du trafic<\/h2>\n\n<p>Autre enseignement majeur des statistiques : la forte concentration du trafic autour d\u2019un nombre limit\u00e9 de grands armateurs mondiaux.<\/p>\n\n<p>CMA CGM a g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 \u00e0 elle seule 159 095 EVP en 2025, devant MSC avec 132 878 EVP. \u00c0 eux deux, les groupes repr\u00e9sentent la majorit\u00e9 de l\u2019activit\u00e9 conteneuris\u00e9e enregistr\u00e9e \u00e0 Port of Spain. <\/p>\n\n<p>Le profil op\u00e9rationnel de ces compagnies met \u00e9galement en \u00e9vidence le r\u00f4le logistique r\u00e9gional du port. CMA CGM a notamment enregistr\u00e9 des volumes tr\u00e8s \u00e9lev\u00e9s de conteneurs vides en transbordement, totalisant 49 297 EVP en 2025. <\/p>\n\n<p>Dans les donn\u00e9es cumul\u00e9es du d\u00e9but 2026, CMA CGM restait l\u2019op\u00e9rateur dominant avec 56 031 EVP sur les quatre premiers mois de l\u2019ann\u00e9e, tandis que MSC en traitait 30 755 sur la m\u00eame p\u00e9riode.<\/p>\n\n<p>La pr\u00e9sence d\u2019autres armateurs internationaux tels que COSCO, ONE et ZIM illustre \u00e9galement la diversit\u00e9 des services maritimes r\u00e9gionaux et interr\u00e9gionaux desservant le port.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Un positionnement renforc\u00e9 dans les flux logistiques du sud de la Cara\u00efbe<\/h2>\n\n<p>Pour Trinidad-et-Tobago, cette trajectoire r\u00e9cente du trafic d\u00e9passe largement la seule question des volumes portuaires. Une croissance durable du trafic conteneuris\u00e9 peut renforcer le positionnement du pays au sein des cha\u00eenes logistiques carib\u00e9ennes, alors que la concurrence r\u00e9gionale entre hubs portuaires continue de s\u2019intensifier. <\/p>\n\n<p>Les grands hubs de transbordement carib\u00e9ens comme Kingston, Caucedo, Freeport ou Cartagena dominent toujours les flux r\u00e9gionaux de redistribution \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle. Mais Port of Spain occupe un positionnement diff\u00e9rent au sein du syst\u00e8me logistique du sud de la Cara\u00efbe, soutenu par sa proximit\u00e9 avec le nord-est de l\u2019Am\u00e9rique du Sud, les flux li\u00e9s au secteur \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique et les sch\u00e9mas de connectivit\u00e9 intra-carib\u00e9ens. <\/p>\n\n<p>Les derni\u00e8res statistiques sugg\u00e8rent que le port renforce progressivement ce r\u00f4le interm\u00e9diaire plut\u00f4t que d\u2019entrer en concurrence directe avec les m\u00e9ga-hubs r\u00e9gionaux.<\/p>\n\n<p>Alors que les armateurs continuent d\u2019ajuster leurs configurations de r\u00e9seaux, leurs allocations d\u2019\u00e9quipements et leurs connexions feeder \u00e0 travers le bassin carib\u00e9en, les ports capables de combiner trafic gateway et activit\u00e9s flexibles de transbordement pourraient conserver une importance strat\u00e9gique malgr\u00e9 les dynamiques de concentration qui touchent le shipping mondial.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Port of Spain a trait\u00e9 357 820 EVP (TEUs) en 2025, enregistrant ainsi sa meilleure performance annuelle en mati\u00e8re de trafic conteneuris\u00e9 depuis plus d\u2019une d\u00e9cennie et confirmant l\u2019importance croissante du port dans les r\u00e9seaux maritimes du sud de la Cara\u00efbe.
